The Gibbs Library was open to the public all day on 12 September, as part of Oxford Open Days. We were delighted to welcome somewhere around 75 visitors from many different places, and with varying degrees of knowledge about and connection to Methodism!
Included in our display was a letter by Charles Wesley written from Christ Church in 1735; a miniature portrait of John Wesley; a copy of John Wesley’s first publication, which was his edition of Thomas à Kempis’s The Imitation of Christ, as well as some beautiful late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century yearbook albums from Westminster College (pictured).
Many, many thanks to Peter Forsaith for being such a knowledgeable and welcoming presence in the library!
