Rowell, Jacob
1722-1784

Born on 5th November 1722, he was converted in 1748 and became one of Wesley's itinerant preachers in 1749. Among his circuit appointments were Cockermouth in 1750 and Whitehaven 1773-1775. His later years were spent mainly in the north-east - Barnard Castle, Newcastle and Yarm. He retired in 1780 and died in 1784. His short obituary (by Wesley himself?) described him as 'a faithful old soldier, fairly worn out in his Master's service'.
