Sweet, Sister Lillie
1885 - 1960

The daughter of the BC minister, John Charles Sweet (1856-1927; e.m.1876), she was born on 18 October 1885 and entered the UM Deaconess Institute, Bowron House, in September 1921. After one month's residence, she was appointed to Sheffield, where her work in one of the mining villages reinvigorated a failing cause. In 1922 she was sent to Jubilee chapel, Hoxton. She was ordained in May 1924. Asking for a change of appointment, in 1928 she went to Deptford. From 1934 to 1938 she was listed on the Stations as 'home claims' and was then stationed at London (Victoria) from 1938 to 1947 and at Westminster Central Hall from 1947 to 1952, when she retired in London. She died on 18 September 1960.
