Story, George
1738-1818; e.m. 1762

Itinerant, born at Harthill, Yorks. He was awakened in London by the preaching of George Whitefield and came to full faith by hearing the Methodist preachers in his native Harthill. A printer by trade, the 1762 Leeds Conference accepted him as an itinerant and he spent 29 years in circuits in England, Scotland and Ireland. In 1792 he was editor of the Arminian Magazine and from 1793 to 1804 manager of the WM printing office and Connexional Editor. His obituary spoke of him as 'an old disciple and faithful labourer in the Lord's vineyard'. He died on 22 May 1818.
