McQuigg, James
fl. 1799-1815

An Irish preacher with an exceptional knowledge of the Irish language. In 1799 he was appointed a General Missionary with Charles Graham and Gideon Ouseley. The rigours of work in the Mission compelled him to return to the circuit ministry for the sake of his health. After 26 years as an itinerant, he was expelled by the Irish Conference in 1815 for adultery, though he denied the charge. After his death his name was cleared.
