Lee, Donald Rathbone, MBE
1911-1988; e.m. 1934

He was born on 28 March 1911 at Stockport and educated at Stockport Grammar School and Handsworth College. He served as an Army chaplain 1942-1947 and as minister of Wesley Memorial Church, Oxford 1952-1957. From 1968 to 1977 he was Chairman of the Southampton District and until 1974 was on the connexional Chapel Affairs committee. He was President of the Conference in 1973 and Moderator of the Free Church Federal Council 1975-1976. His ministry was enriched by his various musical talents and marked by his ecumenical outlook and relationships. As a 'Wesleyan high-churchman' he was deeply disappointment by the failure of the Anglican-Methodist Scheme of Union of 1968. He died on 21 March 1988.
