Johnson, Simpson
1852-1920; e.m. 1873

WM minister, born on 12 August 1852 at Barnard Castle. He was stationed for many years in the industrial areas of Hull, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds, before joining the Home Mission Department in 1902. As Secretary of the Conference and of the newly formed London Committee from 1910, he initiated the New London initiative. He was President of the 1917 Conference. He died suddenly on 20 August 1920.
