Humphreys, Thomas Jones
1841-1934; e.m. 1865

Welsh WM minister, born at Darowen, Montgomery. He was educated at the Normal College, Swansea and served as a lay agent before beginning a long and distinguished ministry. He was President of the Welsh Assembly in 1906 and served as President of the Manchester FCFC while stationed there, being prominent in the causes of education and temperance. A prolific writer, he published several biblical commentaries and works on doctrinal, ecclesiastical and philosophical subjects, as well as many articles for Yr Eurgrawn. He is specially remembered for his hymns and works on Welsh WM history and hymnody, and was honoured by election to the Bardic Circle of Wales. He died on 16 February 1934.
